About Biochar Innovations Limited

We are dedicated to harnessing the unique properties of biochar to develop high-value products with a neutral or negative carbon footprint. Rather than treating biochar as an end in itself, we integrate it as a key ingredient in innovative solutions that deliver additional benefits. Developed with support from Innovate UK and the Apollo Angel Investment Syndicate, our breakthrough product is a carbon-negative fertiliser granule, ReCharge, designed for arable crops. Compatible with any cultivation system, easily applied using existing farm machinery, and validated in field scale trials, we expect a patent to be granted in June 2025. ReCharge significantly reduces the carbon footprint of cultivation and contributes to lowering Scope 3 emissions in the food supply chain. Building on our success, we have co-founded Blue Earth Biochar to address diffuse nutrient pollution in agriculture. Once again, we have secured Innovate UK grant funding and, as of January 2025, have begun a two-year feasibility study to develop innovative new solutions in this space. We are now collaborating with strategic business partners to license our ReCharge IP and deliver the benefits to the market.
