About Biomedical Sciences Department
BMS Mission: To be an interactive community of scientific scholars dedicated to exploring an evidence-based understanding of human health and disease. Goals: 1. Provide an interactive scientific environment among faculty and students in cell biology, molecular biology, genomics, biotechnology, physiology, anatomy, nutrition, exercise science, and neuroscience; 2. Provide a scholarly community in cell biology, molecular biology, genomics, biotechnology, physiology, anatomy, nutrition, exercise science, and neuroscience; 3. Offer and support Allied Health programs: dietetics, clinical laboratory science/medical technology, nurse anesthesia, radiography, nursing, gerontology, athletic training, psychology, physical therapy, physician assistant studies and others at the undergraduate and graduate levels; 4. Prepare students academically and technically for biotechnology applications related to human health and disease; and to incorporate evidence- and inquiry-based experiences in each student’s program of study; 5. Provide opportunities for student and faculty involvement in basic, translational, and clinical research; 6. Provide general education science courses in human biology and academic minors that complement other programs of study; 7. Provide quality student support from a group of knowledgeable and dedicated advisors to foster student development through advisement, mentoring, and consultation; 8. Assist emerging Allied Health programs established by the University; and 9. Continue a liaison between the University and professional health care community. 10. Create and maintain an interactive and reciprocal learning experience with scholastic, scientific, and lifelong learning communities.
