About Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program
The Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program (BVLP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides free legal assistance to low income individuals in Jefferson County, Alabama. The program's mission is to provide access to justice and quality free legal assistance to indigent members of our community. The BVLP utilizes local volunteer attorneys who deliver pro bono legal services to our client base. In order to qualify for services, client household income must not exceed 125% of the federal poverty level. The BVLP assists qualifying clients with civil legal matters including, bankruptcy and debt collection. The BVLP does not accept fee-generating cases or criminal matters.
