About Bishopstrow College
Bishopstrow College closed in June 2025 as a result of the ongoing challenging market conditions in the independent schools sector relating to the imposition of VAT on private school fees in January 2025. Bishopstrow College is one of the UK's leading International Study Centres providing English language and academic pathway programmes to prepare international students for entry into leading boarding schools worldwide. We offer residential placements to boys and girls, aged 7-17 years, who do not have English as their first language. We help our students: (1) Improve their level of English through intensive English language tuition and preparation; (2) Successfully pass entrance tests to UK independent schools and Cambridge English Language Assessment exams including KET, PET and FCE; (3) Prepare for the British education system through Lower, Middle and Upper College British curriculum-based courses and one year IGSCE foundation courses; and (4) Experience boarding school life to check that it is right for them. We also provide: (1) Individual attention, focusing on every child as an individual. For example, English classes have a maximum of 8 students, allowing for a very high level of individual teacher time. Every student also has their own Individual Learning Plan, which details their progress, areas for improvement and key recommendations to move to the next level; and (3) An exciting extra-curricular programme, including a daily sports programme, and a full weekend programme of activities, excursions and study visits.
