About Black Bayou Energy Hub

The Black Bayou Energy Hub is an underground salt dome storage development project in Southwest Louisiana. The project is in an ideal location 7 miles east of the Louisiana / Texas border, 18 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico coastline, and less than 25 miles from the growing industrial demand centers in Lake Charles, LA and Port Arthur, TX. The facility will be centrally located in the heart of LNG Alley, which includes 10+ LNG terminals and over 30 BCF/d of existing and proposed LNG liquefaction capacity. Black Bayou Energy Hub is perfectly situated to provide the essential balancing services needed to support the transition to a sustainable global energy future. Black Bayou’s proven salt, exclusive development rights, and proximity to existing and expanding natural gas, hydrogen, crude oil, NGL and olefin pipelines and infrastructure will allow the project to provide storage and wheeling services to a wide range of energy consumers and suppliers to help balance the ever-changing needs of a dynamic global energy market. Previously certificated with the FERC in 2008, the Black Bayou Energy Hub will begin with an initial focus on natural gas storage, with commercial service starting in 2027. The project sits directly in the center of Gulf Coast LNG growth and only a short distance to more than 15 major existing and expanding natural gas pipelines.
