Black Box Studios is a venture studio that is developing a redemptive ecosystem of people and planet focused platforms that deeply consider and empower personhood, stewardship and equitable access to opportunities. Our vision is to see a digital landscape that empowers people to steward their resources and create equitable access to opportunities. Our quest is to develop an ecosystem of redemptive, digital ventures that restore the values of personhood and stewardship in society at large, by creating intelligently connected platforms that influence the market rather than be dictated to by it. We’re motivated by the gospel idea that to be a person is to be a heart, mind, soul and strength complex designed for love. That we are stewards made in the image of God, created to love him and one another while cultivating the world at large. Personhood is under attack in the modern world, where we can’t be fully human due to the many ideological, economical, technological and systemic constraints placed on people. We believe that innovation and technology in its pure form is a gift that God gave us to ease the hardships of toil, and carry out our cultural mandate of cultivating and creating beauty on the earth. Tools, instruments and processes make it a lot easier for us to work effectively. This ultimately allows us to steward better that which God has given us dominion over, so that we can create abundance and ultimately access for others with a kingdom mindset. Unfortunately nature and society as we know it are fractured, and yearning for help. Redemption is an economic term that means to buy back something (or someone) to restore it to its rightful place. In this same way, redemptive entrepreneurship is the kind of entrepreneurship that sacrifices in order to restore people and creation to a right relationship with God, although we know this work will never be completed until Christ one day returns.
