About Black Locust Psychology

Black Locust Psychology is a private psychology practice focusing on depth psychotherapy and psychological-legal services (forensic psychology). We conduct therapy from often longer term, relational models aimed at helping people get to the root of repetitive cycles of clinical symptoms, relationship experiences, and incomplete or fragmented sense of self - we aim to go deeper than symptom management. We have training in high acuity presentation (like suicidal experiences, psychosis, complex trauma, and dissociative experiences) as well as chronic concerns, like things labeled as "treatment resistant" or "personality disorders." We also love working with folks who are generally curious about themselves and their stories - insight and integration can be life changing, even without clear diagnoses or interfering symptoms. Separately, Dr. Flack is a forensic psychologist with in-depth experience around assessing and treating folks involved in legal systems or potentially relevant behaviors (like rage outbursts, issues with interpersonal boundaries). Sometimes, this also includes focusing on men's issues, like engagement with the manosphere or incel communities. Dr. Flack regularly conducts evaluations and consultation for criminal cases, including insanity, competency, and mitigation evaluations. He also focuses on independent Compensation and Pension evaluations for Veterans Affairs purposes, as well as worker's compensation treatment and evaluation. We work with folks in person in Connecticut, and virtually across 42 states.
