About Black Revolutionary Theatre Workshop
Black Revolutionary Theatre Workshop, LLC (BRTW) BRTW exists to explore, create, and produce art-as-revolution. While our members craft original work, we celebrate our mission and aesthetic as part of an artistic heritage. We stand on the shoulders of giants like Amiri Baraka, from whom we borrowed our namesake, to build a Revolutionary Theatre. Since Revolutionary Theatre cannot only be fulfilled in response, we seek to inspire and inform active change for the significant advancement of oppressed groups. Our work centers on intersectional Black experiences, so we can reflect this rich community in its diverse truth. Blackness is not a monolith, so we strive to create compelling narratives featuring identities and experiences in beautiful, complex honesty. While we understand that it is impossible for our work to be entirely representative, we aim to be reflective.
