About Black Shoe Hospitality
Black Shoe Hospitality is a Milwaukee family of restaurants built on good food, honest work, and heartfelt hospitality. Our name pays tribute to the black shoes worn by cooks and servers everywhere—sturdy, timeless, and built for a job well done. That’s the kind of hospitality we believe in. Since 2007, we’ve grown from Maxie’s, known for bold Southern flavors and lively celebrations like Mardi Gras and Derby Day, to Blue’s Egg + Bakery, a modern take on American brunch with a dedicated bakery and Story Hill BKC, a neighborhood restaurant with a passion for seasonal cooking and a built-in bottle shop. Black Shoe Catering brings inspiration from our kitchens to parties, weddings, and life celebrations throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. We’ve been honored as two-time semifinalists for the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurateur and recognized on the Journal Sentinel’s Top Workplaces list since 2015. Our restaurants consistently appear on “best of” lists from Milwaukee Magazine, Shepherd Express, OnMilwaukee.com, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
