About Blackpool Carers Centre

Blackpool Carers Centre are a charity working directly to support carers living in Blackpool who are providing unpaid care for a loved one, friend, neighbour or family member. Our aim is to make life better for carers and help them manage their caring role alongside the stresses of everyday life. The team at Blackpool Carers offers both practical and emotional support to carers as young as 5 years old, although there are no age limits to say when an unexpected caring role can strike and the training and support offered covers a wide-range of physical and mental health conditions. There are projects specifically for families and those who are engaging with support for substance misuse, as well as training and support for those caring for Dementia or mental ill-health. For those who need wider support, we engage and work alongside other agencies to ensure the right measures are in place and offer respite activities and one to one support. Often the best support we can give is the carer simply knowing that they are not alone. Carers come in all shapes and sizes and look after loved ones with a variety of illnesses and conditions including mental ill-health and substance misuse. Many of our carers don’t even see themselves in a caring role because looking after a loved one or family member “is just something that you do” but we help them see that they don’t have to do it alone. We work in partnership with Blackpool businesses to promote our services and give organisations the knowledge and support they need to help them maintain a looked after work-force, raising their profile as a caring employer and helping them develop an engaged workforce and giving them excellent staff retention and improving their candidate levels when recruiting.
