Blackwood Youth Action (BYA) was established in 2013 by a committed group of community members concerned about the wellbeing of young people in the Blackwood region, in particular youth who are marginalised and at-risk. The community group formed Blackwood Youth Action and was incorporated in 2015. Considerable consultation was then undertaken with our key stakeholders – young people aged 12 to 25, service providers within the health, education and community services sectors, and the wider community. The consultation process identified gaps and a range of initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of marginalised youth in the region. BYA's Vision Blackwood Youth Action Inc.’s (BYA) vision is a community where the mental and emotional well-being of our youth is not only nurtured, but celebrated. We see a landscape where young people are empowered with knowledge, skills and opportunities that enable them to reach their fullest potential. BYA's Mission At BYA, our mission is to be a beacon of hope for the young people of our rural community. We are dedicated to fostering the mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of young people, empowering them to overcome the unique challenges they face in our rural setting.
