About BlazeAid

BlazeAid is a volunteer-based charity organisation that helps rebuild rural communities after natural disasters including bushfires, cyclones and floods. We coordinate and send teams of volunteers from basecamps to rural properties to clean-up and rebuild fencing to help farmers get back on their feet when they’re most in need. Since its establishment following the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires, BlazeAid has established - 211 Basecamps across Australia. - Hosted 37,000 volunteers - Worked on 13,500 properties, clearing 18,000kms of fencing and rebuilding a further 17,700kms. We establish a basecamp in a local community and coordinate teams of volunteers who live onsite for days, weeks or months at a time. Our primary focus is clearing and rebuilding farm fencing to ensure livestock are safely contained. We contribute to local economies by sourcing all materials such as posts and wires, as well as food supplies, from local businesses. Our focus is not only on helping bushfire affected communities quicky bounce back and regenerate their lands after fires, but also to contribute to the prevention of these extreme weather events occurring in the future. Our Regenerative Farming and Carbon Program and Trillion Trees Initiative target fire prevention and climate change via grass-seed regeneration and replanting of native trees in bushfire-affected landscapes.
