The Braunschweig LabFactories for Batteries and more, also known as "BLB+", is a regional alliance of research institutions that brings together excellent research from partners such as the Technische Universität Braunschweig and the Fraunhofer Zentrum für Energiespeicher und -systeme. Our objective is to coordinate key battery research activities in Braunschweig and the surrounding area and to provide a common platform for research work. By doing this, we enhance our regional research's visibility both nationally and internationally and promote the appeal of our region. The Battery LabFactory (BLB) is a centre of Technische Universität Braunschweig and stands for an open research infrastructure to investigate and develop electrochemical storage devices from laboratory to pilot plant scale, especially lithium-ion-, lithium-sulfur- and solid-state-batteries. The research spectrum covers the entire value cycle, from material synthesis over electrode and cell production up to recycling. Our goal is to take a leading role in global research on batteries, energy converters and energy storage. We believe that the future of energy supply and mobility rests on battery technology innovations, and that is why we, as BLB+, have collaborated to pool our research resources and create mutually beneficial partnerships. Battery research has taken place in the Braunschweig area since 2008. Currently, the Battery LabFactory Braunschweig provides infrastructure for producing and recycling battery cells and is known worldwide as a research centre of the Technische Universität Braunschweig. In the future, more buildings and research centres will emerge around the North Campus of the Technische Universität Braunschweig and the research airport, further expanding the ecosystem for research into energy storage and converters.
