About Blind Girl Designs
Welcome to our page! I am Tricia Waechter, the founder of Blind Girl Designs. I have retinitis pigmentosa (RP), a rare genetic eye disease that causes gradual vision loss. Due to RP, I only have central vision remaining. That means I can see in front of me, but can't see anything in my peripheral vision. I also can't see in anything less than pretty bright light. That means professional sports are out for me (jokes). I use a blind cane now, and each year it gets longer, as I need a longer cane the more peripheral vision I lose. On January 1, 2021, I woke up and said “I am not giving into this disease!” Blind Girl Designs was born out of my determination to not allow RP to steal my passion for - and career in - fashion.
