BODEGAS FORCADA is a family-owned winery located in Rincón de Olivedo, La Rioja, in the spectacular Sierra de Alcarama, an area declared a Biosphere Reserve, making us the only winery in the D.O.Ca. Rioja that carries this distinction on its wines. Our 135 Ha. of family-owned vineyards, some pre-phylloxeric and many over a century old, are located on steep slopes at an average altitude of 700 m, so the harvest is manual, and the grapes are transported in small trailers. This unique ecosystem provides low yields, providing greater complexity of aromas and flavours to our grapes, and allowing an excellent maturation through a nearly organic cultivation process, as we have not used chemical fertilizers or herbicides for over two decades, relying on manure as fertilizer and pheromones for pest control. David Forcada represents the fourth generation and built the new Bodegas Forcada facilities in 2001, with modern installations and advanced technology, combining both modern and traditional viticulture to produce wines of excellent quality. Wines like Alma de Forcada, La Forcada, Flor de Baco, and Herencia de Baco have been internationally recognized, with Alma de Forcada Garnacha Cepas Viejas being named BEST GARNACHA WINE IN THE WORLD by the prestigious INTERNATIONAL WINE CHALLENGE (IWC) in 2019.
