BOFFO IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT PRESENTS INNOVATIVE & EXPERIMENTAL ART. Our initiatives include artist residencies, digital commissions, and the creation of spaces, experiences and exhibitions. Since 2009 we’ve served the artistic community by supporting new work and stimulating interdisciplinary dialogues. We serve local communities by offering access to voices of all media, generations, and practices in unexpected and unconventional ways. BOFFO believes in art as a vehicle of change—a way to improve and enhance the quality of life of our communities and of individuals. BOFFO believes in enabling the creative talent of our time to become powerful forces in shaping social, industry, and community landscapes. BOFFO RESIDENCY FIRE ISLAND is an annual summer artist residency program created to nurture the creative spirit of artists and enrich the Fire Island Pines community while adding new and diverse perspectives to the cultural heritage. Each summer artists are invited to stay for one to four week residencies to create a body of work that engages and reflects upon the community and LGBTQ culture. At the end of each residency, the artist is invited to share their work through an exhibition, installation, performance, reading, screening, or other form of engagement. Additionally, artists co-curate public programs that further engage the community. Since 2012, the BOFFO Residency has supported over 90 artists and enriched Fire Island with hundreds of artistic events and programs. www.boffo.art
