About Boomerang Bags
Boomerang Bags is a global movement, mobilising communities to tackle plastic pollution through grassroots, community engagement. It’s about connecting people, starting conversations, raising awareness, creating solutions and fostering sustainable behaviour. Volunteers from all walks of life collaborate to make re-useable boomerang bags using collected, post-consumer materials, as a sustainable alternative to plastic bags. The bags are then given to friends, family, colleagues, councils, events, bagless strangers and so on, as a plastic bag alternative that can be used and reused, or passed on to others in need. Bag-making activities (and the boomerang bags created) provide a platform to start conversations, build community connectedness, create, up-cycle, divert waste from landfill, and work towards shifting society’s throw away mentality to a more sustainable revolution of re-use - one community, needle and thread at a time. Boomerang Bags is currently active in over 800 communities, across 23 countries. To get involved with your nearest community, or create a community in your local town, head to www.boomerangbags.org.
