While traditional approaches to food production and distribution have served us well, it is time to look to the future and ask whether they are adequate to meet the food needs of a rapidly growing population in the face of climate change, accelerated urbanisation, and the changing dietary preferences of the next generation. Fortunately, there is hope. Emerging technologies offer new opportunities to build world-class companies that can help us ensure the tasty, healthy and widely available food of the future. By leveraging innovations in algae, alternative ingredients, food retail tech and CEA / vertical farming we can create more efficient, sustainable, nutritious food systems. By adapting companies to endure for a better future, we can create a more resilient and efficient food system that meets the needs of both people and the planet. With my 2 partners, we created BOOSTABLE in the Netherlands, an entrepreneurial investment holding active in companies addressing some of the challenges in the future of food. Our mission is to assist entrepreneurs & small companies in accelerating the growth of their business at Seed / Series A & Scale up stage, beyond funding. Our engagement is that of an active investor that would take on interim roles at the management level, an Entrepreneur-in-Residence setup. Investing our time, we are usually involved in the defining of the vision, the action plan, strategy, management, finance, and operations with and for the start-up / company. In addition, we accept fund raising mandates. The option for consultancy missions in relation to a specific goal set-out by the VC / investors is an additional service that we are glad to propose.
