About Border Servant Corps
– HOSPITALITY SERVICES – Border Servant Corps (BSC) provides hospitality for migrants released by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. We operate the two largest 24/7 migrant shelters in southern New Mexico and west Texas. At the Hospitality Centers, individuals and families are welcomed, their basic needs (food, hygiene items, general wellness, etc.) are addressed, and guests receive assistance with travel arrangements and transportation to transit stations to continue their journey to their final destination. Additionally, BSC operates the Port Reception Site for migrants entering the U.S. through the CBP One™ app (where USCIS is co-located to assist with a portion of the work authorization process) and an Airport Reception Team to assist migrants from the entire El Paso Sector to navigate the airport on both sides of TSA. Together with our deeply committed community, we ensure newly-arrived migrants are welcomed with dignity and respect. – ENGAGEMENT & EDUCATION – Border Servant Corps also hosts groups interested in an accompaniment-style immersion, where relationships and first-hand educational experiences about border issues are prioritized. In today’s polarized society – surrounding almost every issue – it seems increasingly important to come together, get to know one another, learn about realities, think critically, and proactively engage with renewed understanding. BSC’s border immersion is intentionally designed to provide a comprehensive spectrum of views about immigration and the borderlands by: Speaking with first-generation immigrants; visiting local organizations working with immigrant populations; meeting with government officials to hear about border protection and law enforcement; learning about immigration law; and building an understanding of economic policies and realities affecting people on the border.
