About Boston Fencing Club
The Boston Fencing Club was founded in 1858 with the purpose of advancing the sport of fencing in the United States. Since that time, it has become one of the leading fencing institutions in the country. With decades of nationally and internationally successful fencers, the Club has consistently maintained a high level of fencing instruction over its 150+ year history. Fencing at the BFC develops athletic skills as well as mental skills in a healthy and safe environment of individual and team competition. The discipline involved in training and achieving fencing goals translates well to the academic, business and professional worlds. Alumni of the BFC include influential members of the business, legal, educational, healthcare, military, engineering and scientific research communities. The Boston Fencing Club is, uniquely, a certified 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization with a powerful mission and legacy of outreach. The mission of the Boston Fencing Club is as follows: - Introduce the sport of fencing to all potential athletes in the greater Boston area and grow the fencing community by removing barriers to participation, in whatever form they may be. - Encourage the development of athletic and mental skills in a healthy and safe environment with the aim of assisting our athlete’s long term success in the academic, business, and professional worlds - Provide high-quality instruction and bouting opportunities to fencers of all abilities, ages and skill levels - Advance the Olympic sport of fencing in the United States, by developing locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally competitive fencers.
