At Boston Interactome, we’re pioneering a breakthrough in biotechnology by precision mapping the human protein interactome to develop next-generation therapies. Our goal is to eliminate drug side effects entirely and usher in a new era of safer, more targeted treatments. We’re targeting neuropsychiatric disorders, in particular schizophrenia and addiction. The unmet need is significant - millions of patients are suffering from these conditions but no therapeutic options exist that address the drivers of disease. We aim to change that. These disorders are characterized by aberrant PPIs in a class of multisubunit protein complexes known as epigenetic protein complexes. Their dysregulation leads to the long-term neuronal plasticity underpinning these disorders. Our platform lets us target this class of proteins for the first time. Previous efforts that targeted whole epigenetic proteins showed therapeutic efficacy - but unacceptable safety profiles. That is why we think we can win: these targets are only accessible to the PPI approach.
