About Boy Scouts of America, Great Salt Lake Council
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Scouting in Utah began in 1915 with a single unit in Salt Lake City. Scouting grew and grew until there was a significant need for additional leadership. The Great Salt Lake Council was chartered in 1918.
