The Boyer College of Music and Dance offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Choral Activities, Dance, Instrumental Studies, Jazz Studies, Keyboard Studies, Music Education, Composition, Music History, Music Theory, Music Technology, Music, Music Therapy and Voice and Opera. Boyer is located on Temple's main campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, less than one mile from the City’s historic cultural institutions, including the Kimmel Cultural Campus, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Opera Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Ballet, Philadanco and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Temple is also ideally located only two hours south of New York and three hours north of Washington, D.C. The Boyer College, founded in 1962, is part of the Center for Performing and Cinematic Arts at Temple University, along with the School of Theater, Film and Media Arts. Boyer offers students numerous opportunities to perform with large and small ensembles, many of which perform regularly at the Temple Performing Arts Center, Kimmel Cultural Campus, Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Boyer offers 500 concerts, performances, master classes, lectures, faculty and guest artist recitals each year, most of which are free and open to the public. Community engagement is a priority at Boyer and in addition to our many free performances, our students often perform off campus in schools, medical and rehabilitation facilities and in pop-up concerts around the city. There are opportunities for anyone outside of Temple to join one of our many community ensembles. Whether you play a string or band instrument, or want to sing jazz or selections from standard choral repertoire, there is a place for you at Boyer.
