About Bradford Institute for Health Research
Health Research is instrumental to the advancement of healthcare, wellbeing and the development of new care and treatments. The Bradford Institute for Health Research (BIHR), ensures that Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a research active organisation and works with partners locally, nationally and internationally to ensure research opportunities are available to our local populations and beyond. We have experts in research across the life span of all individuals - including: pre and post birth, via the internationally-recognised research programme, Born in Bradford (BiB); elderly care, via the Academic Unit of Ageing and Stroke Research; post death via nationally recognised Mortality work by the Improvement Academy; supporting a systems-based approach to reduce inequalities via ActEarly and BiB; supporting NHS staff to deliver the best patient care via the Yorkshire Quality and Safety Research Group (YQSR); as well as running clinical research in a range of specialties across the Trust, with an aim to ensure plentiful opportunities for patients to be involved in and benefit from research during their care. We are also proud to host several research programmes funded by the National Institute for Health Research including: NIHR Patient Recruitment Centre Bradford NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire and Humber NIHR Patient Safety Research Collaboration Yorkshire and Humber With our partners in the City of Research collaboration, we also launched a research registry in May 2021. The City of Research - Research As One registry is open to all residents, over the age of 18, to register their interest to be notified of research opportunities in the Bradford, Airedale and Craven District.
