About Bragg Creek Trails Association
The Bragg Creek Trails Association (BCTA) is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization, with the mission to sustainably build, maintain and manage the non-motorized trails in West Bragg Creek (WBC) inside Kananaskis Country, as well as in Rocky View County (RVC) for the benefit of residents and visitors of Bragg Creek. Once known as The Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association, BCTA, a registered society with charitable status, came into existence in 2004. WBC has become an extremely popular recreation destination for trail-enthusiasts. This has been achieved by building strong relationships with Alberta Environment and Parks, Rocky View County, and many other stakeholders. Our objective is, in partnership with Alberta Parks, to sustainably build and maintain trails for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and horseback riding in West Bragg Creek, Kananaskis Country. The trails and pathways we build help to improve the quality of life and, encourage active and healthy lifestyles. We also manage the Trans-Canada Trail and other pathways that connect our community with access for all residents of, and visitors to, the Bragg Creek area with historical, cultural, recreational, and scenic venues in our wonderful community. These pathways provide a safe infrastructure that allows us to access our beautiful outdoors while reducing our dependence on vehicles and minimizing our impact on the environment. The year-round activities of BCTA are facilitated by a combination of volunteers and paid workers. We have many individuals, families, business’s and other not for profit organizations, that provide financial support towards trail and pathway development and help with our ongoing activities.
