About Brain Changes Initiative

Brain Changes Initiative (BCI) is a not-for-profit organization that funds groundbreaking research to improve the standard of care for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) patients. Our mission is to create a standardized six-pillar program that includes Intensive Aerobic Exercise, Intensive Cognitive Exercise, Nutrition, Mindfulness and Sleep Hygiene & Limiting Harmful Exposures to help TBI patients achieve optimal recovery in a new accessible way. We strive to improve access to care by advocating for change to clinical protocol and focusing on knowledge translation that offers valuable information, support and services directly to TBI survivors and their families. BCI has created a patient amenity fund to subsidize therapies supporting cognitive recovery and co-morbid mental health. All donations generated will support new revolutionary research in the field of neuro-recovery. Brain Changes Initiative was founded by Dr. Matthew Galati, MD, a TBI survivor and Clinical Lead of IPEACE at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.
