Brain Health Consultants is at the forefront of advancing state of the art care in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric and neurological conditions. Our key areas of focus are depression and other mood disorders. We treat the whole person and the unique needs of each individual, not just the troubled area of the brain. Our work with patients and families brings a combined four decades of direct patient care, consultation to pharmaceutical and biomedical companies on treatment development and working with public health agencies on key research directions to improve mental health. Ensuring the best outcomes for patients is at the core of our work, and it is this commitment that drives all of our patient care. We are a research-based practice that offers the most advanced, evidence based treatments. One example is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). This new FDA approved treatment was developed based on an updated understanding of how brain networks function including knowledge of which networks are not functioning properly when a patient is suffering from various brain conditions. A strong magnet, like those used in MRI machines, is used to restore functioning of nerve cells and circuits. This remarkable outpatient procedure requires no anesthesia – patients can immediately return to work, school or other activities.
