About Braincat

Braincat is a web-based application that helps people think better. It's especially useful for: Writing; Brainstorming; Planning & strategy; Study & research; Design & creative thinking; Managing your daily life. Braincat is based on a simple process comprising three steps: 1. INPUT 2. ORGANIZE 3. OUTPUT The key to this process is that you can pour everything into the hopper without having to structure it first. This is relaxing when you're taking notes in a meeting, or studying lots of different materials, or you're bursting with ideas. CATEGORIES SIMPLIFY Braincat makes it easy to distill your input by grouping it in categories, which you then place in a sequence. The categories give you a quick, short-hand map of the territory. They are organic to your material because you made them — so you know what they mean. THE BIG IDEA In Braincat, you're encouraged to step back and ask yourself, "What's the big idea?" You capture it in a few words, and now you have a guiding principle moving forward. MANY WAYS TO OUTPUT Braincat gives you different ways to view and output your organized material. You get an outline and a mind map. You can export the material as a CSV file, which can then be used Google Sheets or Excel. TEXTBREAKER: AN EXTRA GEM You can input blocks of text into Braincat, copied from any source. A function called TextBreaker(TM) breaks the text into phrases, which you can then categorize and sequence as you need.
