Our technology is a gene editing platform based on our multifunctional cationic polymer which has been optimized for efficient gene transfer to cells. The specially formulated polymer biomaterial has been engineered to encapsulate, carry and protect CRISPR technology designed to target and excise disease-causing mutation sites. Our initial focus is the development of a CRISPR gene editing therapy, delivered by our unique non-viral polymer platform for the treatment of the rare skin condition recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB). As well as developing gene-therapies for rare diseases, Branca Bunus Ltd develops markets and sells polymer solutions for research. Our DNA transfection reagent, BrPERfect, has been tested in a broad range of difficult-to-transfect and commonly used cells, showing superior efficiency with virtually no cytotoxic effects, compared to competitor products. The robust transfection efficiency is achieved by the excellent DNA binding capacity, effective cellular uptake, endosomal escape and high biodegradability.
