Brainport Eindhoven is one of the fastest growing and innovative high tech centres in Europe. Multinationals and SME's are working towards solutions in the field of Advanced Technology, Smart manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence as well as Medical, Design, Mobility and Agrifood. In order to keep up with this growth there is a high demand for skilled and talented personnel. As there are not enough qualified local individuals to fill the vacancies in the Brainport region, companies are searching and recruiting talent from abroad. Within this global society having talented international employees can be a great strength to companies, yet it can also complicate company dynamics. Branching Out targets two specific struggles that companies with foreign knowledge workers might face; retention of international talent and difficulties in dealing with cultural differences. ROOT'IN PROGRAMME The most common reasons for foreign knowledge workers to return home or depart to another country is due to struggles in settling in and not the dissatisfaction of their job. For this reason Branching Out provides the ROOT’IN programme, a soft factors “on-boarding” for newly arrived international talent and their family helping them acclimatise in the Netherlands and the Brainport Eindhoven region. CULTURE GROVE In order to be successful with an international team, it is of paramount importance that the team members are aware of cultural differences, can deal with them in a respectful manner and resolve any issues with an impact on performance quickly. The CULTURE GROVE intercultural programme has been set up to support companies in the Brainport Eindhoven area to do just that.
