About BRAVE Publications

An advocacy group for survivors of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) that publishes educational materials for all members of the TBI community in order to bridge the gap between survivors and practitioners. Mission: BRAVE’s mission is to create an environment in which survivors are enabled to achieve the quality of life they want. Through education and networking, BRAVE unites all members of the TBI community—families, doctors, lawyers, and counselors—with the common goal of survivor empowerment. It is dedicated to bringing the voices of survivors to the research community and to proliferating pertinent research topics to survivors in an easily accessible language. By reconciling survivors’ personal experiences with the latest scientific advancements, BRAVE enables survivors to actively guide their own recovery. Description: The name BRAVE was coin by members of a therapy group who observed that expectations for their recovery were often far below their actual potential. Standing for “Building a Recovery Attitude by Voicing our Experiences,” BRAVE ceaselessly strives to preserve the dignity of survivors. The organization is founded on the principal that survivors can only achieve the quality of life they desire when they are listened to and fully understood as people. BRAVE brings survivors’ voices to the forefront of TBI discourse by publishing educational material that connects survivors’ personal stories with the latest scientific research.
