About Bravery Trust
Bravery Trust was created by Veterans in 2012 to provide financial assistance to veterans and their families in their time of need. Bravery Trust doesn’t compete with any other military charity but rather we work with all of them to achieve a better outcome for the people we help. Our Board of Directors are a diverse and influential group who are highly engaged in the welfare of our defence force members, and intrinsically understand that each family’s circumstances and need for assistance is unique. Our organisational vision is that no defence family suffers financial hardship as a result of their service to the nation. We provide financial support to current and former ADF members and their families in times of need and tragedy, whilst also assisting them with resources and opportunities to lead productive lives in the community. Serving in the defence force, particularly in times of sustained conflict, can result in both mental and physical injuries which can be difficult to overcome. Currently, more than 3,000 ADF personnel who served in Afghanistan, Iraq and the greater Middle East region have been diagnosed with a service-related mental illness including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. Assistance provided by the Trust can be as simple as help with household, medical and food bills, but also extends to longer term support for education, retraining to join the workforce, special medical needs, mental health rehabilitation and carers’ assistance. "The best way to honour those who have bravely fought for their country is to support them and their families in their hour of need.” Peter Fitzpatrick AO AM (Mil) JP, Chairman of the Bravery Trust.
