Breakers Restaurants Ltd is a privately-owned company and master franchisor of the successful Kiwiana-themed chain of family-friendly Breakers restaurants. The first Breakers outlet was founded in Napier in 1997 by owners Mark and Penny Burt. The concept of speed, value-for-money and relaxed dining was still in its infancy back in those days, but today the chain now has a network of corporate- and franchisee-owned sites across the North Island of New Zealand.
