About BridgeUP at Cardinal Hayes High School

BridgeUP is a network of programs that provide comprehensive and long-term support to youth from low-income and underrepresented communities with the intention of making a transformative impact on their lives. Programs within the BridgeUP Network are designed to support NYC teens reach their academic and developmental potential. In addition to the academic support, mentorship, and networking opportunities offered through these programs, BridgeUP encourages all of its youth to explore and pursue activities that spark their interests. Two of the network’s more comprehensive programs, BridgeUP:CORE and BridgeOUT, are located at a parochial high school in the South Bronx, NY, and work in tandem to support their Scholars as they develop the skills, confidence, and mindset necessary to become innovative agents of change in their own lives and communities. BridgeUP:CORE is a comprehensive college/post-secondary readiness program that uses a holistic and highly customized approach to support NYC teens reach their academic and developmental potential. From the 9th grade through high school graduation, BridgeUP provides its Scholars with long-term mentorship, academic support, and access to engaging learning opportunities that develop one’s social-emotional competencies and fosters academic independence, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. BridgeOUT is BridgeUP’s newest program, designed to guide CORE’s rising Seniors, Parents, and Alumni as they navigate the vast landscape of post-secondary pathways and pursuits. In conjunction with school-based College Counselors, BridgeOUT will amplify the support geared towards creating a realistic and concrete post-secondary plan, and the “follow-through” necessary for our scholars to realize their academic and/or vocational goals.
