About Bridgit Water Foundation

Every person deserves clean drinking water, and it is BridgIT Water Foundation’s mission to provide suitable, accessible and sustainable water solutions to the poorest and most marginalised people in rural, peri-urban areas and small remote villages in developing countries. Allowing access to the basic human right of clean water is the first step on the path to combating poverty. Our vision is to provide improved drinking water to better the quality of life for people living in rural areas of developing countries. Access to clean drinking water transforms people's lives: • Central village wells saves time for the women and children charged with the drudgery of water collection that can be spent on work or education to give hope for the future. • People’s health improves immediately when they don’t have to consume water contaminated with pathogens for miserable and avoidable diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and diarrhea. • Women in the villages are further empowered as members of the Water User Committees, established to own and manage the water resource. Since 2009, BridgIT has provided safe, clean water to over 975,000 people. Water projects provide donors with truly effective altruism with a total program cost of AUD2.53/person (US$1.77/person). In other words, for less than half the cost of a cup of coffee, donors can gift 1 person in the developing world with a sustainable water supply. The overwhelming need for clean, safe water supplies in the developing world needs individuals, philanthropists and corporates to play a role in helping to tackle the water crisis. You can help by sponsoring an entire new or refurbished water well, or donating an amount of your choice towards a well project. Please note that due to an overwhelming number of requests, BridgIT does not accept unsolicited requests for implementing partnerships.
