About Brilliant Minds Open Talent

Founded by 3 IT professionals with autistic children during the pandemic, Brilliant Minds Open Talent is a not-for-profit social enterprise that looks for innovative ways to support Neurodivergent people find meaningful, fair paid employment. Our main focus is on Technology-related careers. We work with three groups: - Neurodivergent people, looking for rewarding careers in Technology and beyond - Supportive employers, to find amazing jobs which are perfectly suited to Neurodivergent people - Partners organisations, who are able to offer more direct support in areas we are currently unable to provide ourselves Did you know, in the UK, for autistic adults, the full-time employment rate is just 16%. That means 5 out of every 6 autistic adults who could be enjoying meaningful employment, are currently out-of-work? Most employability services still focus on traditional roles and methods. We advocate for a more flexible work-style in organisations that appreciate the unique qualities a Neurodiverse workforce can bring and are prepared to adopt more flexible and inclusive methods for both recruitment and the work environment. The "future of work" has become the present, and Brilliant Minds is also keen to explore and exploit the gig economy and open talent models for those Neurodivergent people not looking for a traditional job. We have built a small but growing community of members who we support, and who we encourage to work together to be the voice of Neurodivergent people. In 2023 we are launching our Brilliant Minds Community App which will be a safe space for Neurodivergent people to seek information, support and inspiration from other Neurodivergent people, professionals and advocates. We are super excited by this challenge and will be looking to grow this community in the UK and beyond to provide a means to amplify the voices of the Neurodivergent Community to achieve systemic change and an improved life for each individual member.
