BASI is a Member of the International Ski Instructors Association (ISIA). BASI work with contracted Business Partners to promote and sell the BASI qualification system and also manage a Quality Assurance Scheme for Ski Schools around the world - The BASI Approved Ski School Scheme. To book a ski instructor course or find out more please visit www.basi.org.uk History of BASI The need for a ski instructor training body was first conceived back in 1962, the first Chairlift had been installed at CairnGorm Mountain (Aviemore) and snowsports had captured the imagination of the UK public driving demand for lessons and so the need for instructors. The British Association of Professional Ski Instructors (BAPSI) held its inaugural meeting in January 1963 at the Cairngorm Hotel in Aviemore and has been offering instructor training courses ever since.
