About British Divers Marine Life Rescue
British Divers Marine Life Rescue is a charity dedicated to frontline response for marine mammals around the UK using a network of over 3000 trained volunteer Marine Mammal Medics. Our hotline receives over 4000 calls per year, mainly for young seals pups but also for live stranded cetaceans, turtles and sharks. We also operate a specialist Large Whale Disentanglement Team and a small number of temporary seal holding units including our flagship Cornwall Seal Hospital. BDMLR collaborates with many other organisations to provide for the welfare of marine animals in need through conservation-based partnerships and to help raise public awareness of key issues through education. This includes providing training for other organisations overseas, with recent examples including France, Italy, Denmark, Egypt and Kazakhstan.
