About British Flame
Established in 1956, the British Flame is a professional association providing a forum for collaboration between industry and academia in the field of industrial combustion. We aim to develop, promote and publicise research and development which enables the safe and efficient use of combustion in industrial applications with minimum environmental impact. This is accomplished through our platform for discussion, debate and promotion of member interests, not only internally, but increasingly through external recognition and influence, engagement with policy makers, and an international, diverse community of combustion experts. British Flame covers specific themes such as power and heat generation, petrochemicals, cement, and metals, as well as combustion and heat transfer equipment suppliers and fuel services for these industries and others. Our activities include working groups active in areas of current research interest, such as the Flares Working Group and Emissions Working Group, which provide members – a unique network of companies, research organisations and universities – with a common purpose of solving today’s energy challenges while also preparing for the future energy landscape. We also host an annual Flame Day event which brings together thought leaders and experts in the field to debate and discuss the important and varied role of industrial combustion in the energy transition. Other topic-orientated seminars are held throughout the year to engage and inform our membership about the latest developments in key areas of interest.
