A sight test is not just about getting a pair of glasses – it is a vital health check for your eyes. A sight test includes (by regulation) a number of other health tests. Many conditions can be detected, including: glaucoma, cataract, diabetes, age-related macular degeneration – the most common cause of blindness in the UK – some forms of cancer, as well as other conditions not usually associated with eyes, such as high blood pressure and brain tumours. Continuing our aim to provide superior patient care, we continually explore and invest in new technologies that we feel will be of benefit to our patients. Recent additions to this include a Zeiss Humphrey field analyser, an Intuitive Colorimeter, which can be used to help with specific problems of visual stress or dyslexia; a Pachymeter, an ultra-sound to measure corneal thickness; and a new style of photochromatic lens which can act two thirds quicker than most currently available on the market. We also search far and wide to ensure we can offer the best of spectacle frames and lenses available on the market today.
