About Brownings the Bakers
Established in 1945 by the current Managing Director John Galls Grandparents, Brownings the Bakers are an Award Winning business based in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. We are a family run business, handcrafting products from our purpose built bakery and savoury factory. 2018 Scottish Baker of the Year, we continue to employ traditional craft skills creating bakery products from scratch recipes rather than premixes. Our specialties include morning rolls, potato scones, oven scones and buttermilk soda scones. Our most famous product, The Kilmarnock Pie is produced in our purpose built savoury factory and has won numerous awards including The Best Savoury Product in Scotland, Best Pie in Scottish Football and The Best Pie in British Football. Such is the demand for our Famous Kilmarnock Pie we have started a mail order service to serve our customers all over the UK. Brownings products are now widely available across the whole of Scotland. Stockists include every Scottish Aldi store, some selected Scotmid, Spar, Tesco and Waitrose stores, 8 Brownings Retail stores as well as many local independent pubs, restaurants and shops. We are very proud of our family run traditional business which continues to grow and diversify in a modern world. The management team at Brownings largely comprises of people who have worked at the company since leaving school, in fact many of our employees are now into the 3rd generation of their family working here. Even as we grow we are still in the heart of the community. Our founding principles haven’t changed, we are a local business sourcing the finest ingredients to produce products of the highest quality. Those principles have served our01 company for over 70 years and continue to be our philosophy today.
