Services Provided: > Homeward Bound: Professional, experienced, Certified Housing Counselors advise those seeking to create wealth, obtain homeownership, and existing homeowners wanting to save their home or refinance. Homeowners have access to workshops that include avoiding foreclosure, refinancing, maintenance, and weatherization along with do it yourself home improvement projects. They also provide services in financial fitness, credit improvement, money management, support, and training. >Building the Future: BHO builds affordable, low maintenance, low energy cost, innovative, attractive, ‘Green’ homes. The first house was completed in 2013. Using precast concrete walls, stone coated metal roofing system, solar water heaters, and energy efficient windows, hardwood cabinets with hard surface counter tops, low flow plumbing, and tiled bathrooms. BHO builds a superior, low maintenance, low energy usage and high value yet affordable home for the Workforce of this region. > Home Preservation Team: is a volunteer-based effort to reduce substandard housing among the very low-income, elderly, veteran, and disabled homeowners in Brunswick County. HPT completes minor and moderate repairs to make homes safe, habitable, and improve the overall living conditions of the residents. >Neighborhood Coalition: NHC support provides facilitation, training, and fiscal support to grassroots organizations in Brunswick and Columbus Counties. NHC advocates and promotes citizen-led community development. NHCs identify community and individual assets; complete assessment; develop asset maps, and build community plans. The goal to ensure lasting impact that each NHC can continue to work towards the goals and issues that face that community.
