About Buckley Downtown Association

BDA is a new non-profit 503 (C) organization in Buckley. We are a part of the Washington Main Street Program, which helps communities revitalize the economy, appearance, and image of their downtown commercial districts in Washington. The program is managed (under contract) by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation. Our mission came to life when the City of Buckley organized a committee of community & business members and formed the Downtown Revitalization Committee. The purpose of this was to create a strategic plan to improve the vibrancy, commercial composition, and utilization of Buckley’s downtown. The committee saw the Main Street Program as an opportunity they could use to help implement the Downtown Revitalization Strategy, and access resources that would help us make impactful changes. Main Street of America has a 4 point approach that focuses on: Economic Vitality: Partner with local businesses. Provide guidance and support to them. Encourage new businesses downtown. Strategically plan for sustainable growth. Promotion: Implement a marketing strategy that communicates our values and positions itself as a hub of economic activity for downtown revitalization. Outreach: Intentional engagement with the community in ways that meets needs, & connect to downtown. Establish effective communication processes that serve the community & businesses. Design: Create an inviting, inclusive environment that celebrates history and culture. Foster accessibility, and make downtown an experience...not just a place.
