About Buggypower

Buggypower is a young company committed to the production of biomass obtained from marine microalgae, which contains high nutritional components such as polyunsaturated fatty acids (EPA, DHA), vitamins, essential amino acids, minerals and pigments, among others. All these are highly valuable in the preparation of food and feed, nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals products. Buggypower facilities are located in Porto Santo island in a strategic point where the water of the Atlantic Ocean is pure, the annual temperature fluctuations are minimal and where solar radiation is optimal for the cultivation of microalgae. Currently Buggypower holds one of Europe's biggest production plants in closed systems (1100 cubic meters with an average annual production 60 t of dry biomass), with a strong initial investment in partnership with our strategic partner, the Electricity Company of Madeira (EEM). Buggypower patented production technology is based on the use of air-lift closed photobioreactors 8 meters high and arranged to optimize solar capture and bacteriological control, for maximum biomass quality. Buggypower has a highly qualified team that includes professionals from different areas such as Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering and Pharmaceutical, among others, allowing to find comprehensive solutions and products with high added value.
