Building Catalyst provides predictive modeling and analysis for a wide range of commercial, institutional and industrial facility types. More than that, Catalyst ushers in the first generation of buildings to be constructed under the Systems Approach. The Systems Approach enables automation and process improvements throughout the planning, design and construction stages. As a knowledge-based, predictive modeling (BIM) application, Catalyst drives value and performance improvement need to: 1. Predict the facility’s outcomes in terms of program, physical parameters, hard costs, operating parameters and life cycle cost. It does this within a range of variation based on the knowledge of vital causes that affect outcomes. 2. Steer the facility outcomes to desired or targeted results. It does by providing a decision making information at every stage of development – especially the planning, programing and conceptual design stages, when the highest impact decisions are made. 3. Report predictions and outcomes in terms that are meaningful to the facility owner and occupants – by each department (i.e. radiology), and within each department (i.e. CT scanning). 4. Objectively measure and evaluate design efficiency and cost effectiveness of projects: in-progress and completed. 5. Apply measurement to locate and encourage waste and risk removal: (a). Incrementally on current projects knowing that results being measured and rewarded against objective standards. (b).
