Bunko Consulting’s principal is Michael Bunko, MBA. Michael Bunko is an electrician who holds an Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering. He has extensive experience as an electrician, electrical inspector/supervisor, chief inspector and director in the technical and safety regulation of the electricity industry, electricity transmission and distribution systems and utility practices. He also has vast experience in all types of electrical installations, and in senior management. He also has experience in the technical and safety regulation of the gas industry and regulation of the plumbing industry. Prior to Bunko Consulting he held the position of Director, Electricity, Gas and Plumbing Compliance, Building and Energy Division, Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, Western Australia. This position was responsible for directing and managing all electricity, gas and plumbing inspection, investigation and compliance functions in the Building and Energy Division. He has led large investigation teams and reviewed a number of complex investigations where the cause of the incidents was not found by the investigators. He has also produced a number of expert witness reports. In the early 2000’s he was a member of Standards Australia Committee EL001 which develops and prepares the Wiring Rules and companion standards. He has been instrumental in significantly reducing the number of electrocutions in WA. Michael has a vast knowledge of the technical standards and work practices in the energy industry. He also has substantial experience in compliance, electrical safety policy and regulation development. Further, he has wide experience in public administration and processes within government, including policy development and industry consultation, legislation drafting and preparation of government submissions and briefings. He has drafted and submitted numerous ministerials.
