About Burdus Access
David Burdus, Director of Burdus. Age 61 Uses a manual and power wheelchair following a spinal injury in 1983. David became one of England’s first full time and designated access officers in 1988. In 1992 he established Burdus Access. His first commission was to produce and deliver the Tyne and Wear Development Corporation’s Access Strategy for the 25 mile Quayside regeneration for the banks of the rivers Tyne and Wear. The strategy was used in the minister for disabled people’s national media campaign and awarded the Ratcliffe Mobility Award by HRH Prince Charles. David specialises in access master planning, design team work, access policy and DDA compliance, corporate access management and troubleshooting with a strong track record in urban regeneration, arts and heritage.
