About Burlington Community Robotics
Burlington Community Robotics (BCR), founded in May 2024, emerged from a local high school's successful FIRST Robotics program. Our mission is to provide students with hands-on experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) program. Our leadership team and mentors boast over 120 years of combined experience, deeply rooted in FRC. Many mentors began as high school team members and returned post-graduation to mentor new students. Our team includes professionals from diverse fields such as product design, automotive, process automation, manufacturing, IT, electrical engineering, programming, carpentry, business, marketing, and communications. The original high school team, founded in 2006, competed in FRC for 17 years, expanding from 8 to over 65 students per season, supported by a growing pool of mentors from one teacher to more than 15 community volunteers. Nearly 200 students have participated, with 95% advancing to post-secondary education or skilled trades, and many returning as mentors. Our team has a history of excellence, achieving consistent top performance globally. In the past five seasons alone, we secured 8 FRC event wins, including a Provincial Championship in 2023. We've earned awards for Industrial Design, Autonomous Capabilities, Quality, Creativity, Innovation in Control, and Excellence in Engineering, making us one of only 29 teams worldwide to have won all FIRST event engineering awards at least twice. BCR aims to continue this legacy, offering unparalleled STEM learning opportunities and preparing students for successful futures in various hig
