About BYHP (Tackling The Root Causes of Youth Homelessness)
We provide a range of services offering support to young people 13-25, and their families, facing root causes of youth homelessness. Those that are at risk of NEET, relationship breakdowns, or with mental health & therapeutic needs. Health and Wellbeing BYHP offers free Counselling and Family Mediation sessions. BYHP runs a CAMHS project, in partnership with Response Organisation and Oxfordshire Health, working with children and young people who it is deemed would benefit from some light-touch Mental Health intervention. BYHP’s latest partnership delivers the Mental Wealth Academy service, offering One to One focused interventions, for 18 to 25 year olds, using evidence based therapies, emotional literacy and self-management tools. Training and Employability Back on Track, in partnership with Activate learning and other Oxfordshire based charities, aims to transform the lives of young people aged 15-17 who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) or at risk of becoming NEET. Unlocking Potential for Oxfordshire, in Partnership with Aspire and Oxford City Council, along with other Oxfordshire based charities, helps young people aged 17-19 who are NEET to discover their potential. Through 1-2-1 mentoring and coaching young people will quickly develop self-confidence, self-esteem, work readiness and employability. Housing and Homelessness Advice Although we aren’t able to offer accommodation, we are able to support young people who present to us as homeless. We can help by signposting them to the right people to get them on the housing pathway and help them to fill in any forms and make calls to the necessary people. Unfortunately before emergency accommodation is given, young people have to be verified as street sleeping and so we can provide them with a tent, sleeping bag and access to food whilst they are waiting for this to happen. Foodbank BYHP provides a Foodbank to its services user and their families whenever they are in need.
