California Waste Recovery Systems, founded in 1927 by the Vaccarezza family, is the largest, locally-owned waste collection and recycling company in the region. It provides residential, commercial, and industrial services (including concrete and paint washout) to areas throughout San Joaquin, Sacramento and Calaveras counties. Its fleet of clean, white trucks services approximately 16,000 customers twice a week, totaling more than 1.6 million visits per year. While the company is proud of its ongoing innovations and involvement in numerous industry associations, it is still most proud of its customer-first service, its commitment to reducing landfill usage through recycling innovations, its respect for its valued employees, and its ongoing efforts to improve the environmental and economic health of the California neighborhoods it serves—all of which have been hallmarks of this family-run business for more than 85 years.
